Summer Travels
In July of 2003 I visited Chatillon, Italy for a week. Chatillon
was the location of the Cluster 2003: Guitar Summer School and Festival of
Angelo Gilardino.
The weather was quite warm but this mountain location had a strong breeze
each day that helped keep things bearable. We also had a good rain storm
and one hail storm (in the middle of the night) while I was there. During
the next few weeks I will be posting more comments and pictures from the
trip. Here are a few to start:
- it was hotter than I expected (it seems all of Europe was a bit warm)
- many houses had roofs made of stone
- cars tend to run over whatever they encounter
- it was quite scenic - just looking out of the dormitory window provided
views that were 'postcardish'; the image links below are an attempt to
'share the view'
- my Italian did not make tremendous gains since English was readily spoken
by many of the guitarists
- I heard quite a bit of excellent guitar playing and quite a bit of new
guitar music
- the best part - I made several new 'guitar friends'
- Images from Chatillon and
around the course location
- Images from Cervino (the
Italian side of the Matterhorn - about one hour away by car)
- Images of Guitarists
attending the course

Reagan unless otherwise noted.
