Online Music Store - Guitar Repertoire Music Categories
In the past it could be quite tricky to locate music for guitar. I used to travel 5 hours (nearest store with classical guitar music) to locate new anthologies or specific pieces. I also used a good bit of mail order - now the Internet makes this much simpler. I have created a set of Easy Search links to speed up the process for Internet music searches and I suggest guitar music, composers, and editions (note that most of my suggestions are limited to music for classical guitar but I do include links to other styles of music or links to music using alternative notation, i.e. Tab.) I welcome feedback so please use the contact link (bottom of the page) to let me know if these pages are helpful. If your interests span beyond guitar music then you may find the Famous Notes site to be helpful as well. Also, I prepared some general comments on music editions that may be helpful.
One of the most popular transcriptions for guitar (a work originally for piano) is available free - just download and print - Asturias (Leyenda)Asturias (Leyenda), by Issac Albéniz - transcription by Mark Windham (downloaded thousands of times since 1998 - advanced guitar technique is needed, however portions of the work are within reach of most players...)
A guitar festival in Argentina (2007) offered NEW repertoire (traditional music notation scores) for downloading (PDF files) as well as sample video of the works. The site features Guitar music from Argentina and Uruguay and is hosted on a newspaper web-blog site. The music should provide some new challenges for all guitarists. NOTE - the site is only offered in Spanish...

- Classical: music for guitar collected and edited by Frederick Noad - these are excellent editions for students; the method books contain music from several periods along with notes on practice and performance specific to the pieces. Also, the period anthologies are a great resource at a reasonable cost (i.e. hours of enjoyable music that is within reach of beginners to advanced students.)
- Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach): music for guitar by German Composer J. S. Bach(~Baroque period.) The edition of the Lute Suites by Frank Koonce is my favorite.
Fingerstyle Celtic music for guitar - Irish/Celtic music - fingerstyle or classical guitar - usually includes both standard notation and tabulature; also, modified tunings are common (i.e. DAGDAD.)
Flamenco music for guitar - quite a number of titles - look for the method books by Koster.
