Oggetto: Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

Would anyone wish to make suggestions please for performance pieces by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco.
I have been completely absorbed recently by Simon Dinnigan's beautiful playing of the terrific Cappricio Diabolico. I love this stunning piece with its great melodies and harmonic modulations

Then you are ready for liking an even greater - much greater - piece, whose first movement includes a theme from which MCT took a suggestion for the first theme of his "Capriccio diabolico": it is the Fantasy for piano op. 17 by Robert Schumann. Have a good reading and listening.

but am looking for a work not requiring such a level of technical virtuosity.
The Tarantella is managable, so something up to this level of technical difficulty.
Not the Platero y Yo suite as I play Sainz de la Maza's.

Actually, these pieces by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza's music are the work of an amateur and have nothing to see with the quality of MCT "Platero y yo", which are not solo guitar pieces anyway, but pieces for narrator and guitar.

Does anyone know or is able to say much about Aranci in Fiore? I think I heard this before and liked it but cannot remember it at all.

"Aranci in fiore" is a small occasional piece which MCT wrote in 1934 or 1935 for thanking Aldo Bruzzichelli, then the owner of a cafe and furtherly a publisher - a close friend of the composer - of an extraordinary gift: Lorenzo, one of the sons of the composer, was ill and he needed oranges, but they were impossible to find, because out of season. Aldo phoned to Sicilia and got a case of oranges for Lorenzo, since then the composer wrote that piece, which not casually is a siciliana, to show his affection to his friend.

To hear of pieces you really like of this composer would be most welcome; Thank you.
All of his pieces are very good, but almost all are rather tricky for guitarists. The right thing to do is reading all of them and then to select those which one feels more in tune with.
